Information used

After you tap Start recording and grant precise location permission, Car GPS Log records GPS coordinates, times and altitude to show routes, distance, duration and speed. The user-started foreground service continues when the screen is off or another app is open, with a recording notification. Stop it in the app or notification. The app does not start tracking automatically on device boot.

Trip titles, endpoint names, imported GPX data and complete GPS logs are stored on your phone. Videos are generated and stored on your phone. This version has no user accounts, advertisements or developer-operated trip upload service. We do not sell trip or location data.

Maps, place searches and third-party services

The app is not entirely offline. Google Maps SDK requests maps from Google. Google Places SDK sends your place search text and request information to Google. The Android Geocoder looks up start and finish names using their coordinates; its provider depends on your device. Location recording uses the Google Play services fused location provider and is affected by your device location settings.

Google Maps and Places SDKs can also process IP addresses, device/app version information, SDK identifiers, request and interaction data, performance data and crash diagnostics to deliver, maintain and improve their services. These practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Shareable video road maps use OpenStreetMap. Tile downloads disclose your IP address, app identification and requested tile areas to OpenStreetMap and its delivery providers; areas may reveal approximate trip locations. Files, sharing and backups

The current Beta is free and allows unlimited activities. It contains no in-app checkout or Google Play Billing SDK and does not process purchases or collect payment details. Paid features or developer-operated cloud services are not available in this Beta. If introduced in a future version, their terms and privacy disclosures will be provided before use.

The app reads only GPX files you select through the system file picker. Videos may be copied automatically to your gallery; gallery cloud backup depends on your gallery service and settings. Exporting or sharing provides the selected file to the app, storage service or recipients you choose. Files can contain precise locations, times and trip names. Check for private addresses before sharing.

Android system backup is enabled for this app. Depending on device settings, app data may be backed up by your system backup provider or transferred to a new phone. This is not developer-operated cloud sync.

Retention, deletion and security

Trips remain until you delete them. Delete on the home screen removes that trip's GPS records and related in-app videos. Exported files, gallery copies and recipients' copies must be deleted separately. Place names and maps may be cached in private app storage. Android Clear storage removes all local app data and caches. Manage backup copies with your backup provider.

Private app data is protected by Android application isolation. Direct map network requests use HTTPS. Device geocoding, location, Google SDK and backup providers govern their own processing and retention. We cannot delete copies from your device or third-party services on your behalf.

Support and your choices

You can revoke location permission in Android settings at any time to prevent new GPS recording. Support emails, sender addresses and attachments are processed through Google Groups so we can answer and follow up on requests. Do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive trip details. Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests to delete support data we hold. We retain support correspondence only to handle requests and for necessary legal or security reasons.

Use and map terms

Car GPS Log is a driving log and replay tool, not live navigation or a safety instrument. Operate it only when safely parked, and record/share only information you are entitled to use. Google map features are subject to the Google Terms of Service and Google Maps Additional Terms. OpenStreetMap data is provided by its contributors under the OpenStreetMap copyright and licence terms. Keep map attribution on exported videos.
